We had an unexpected visitor arrive at our home this morning…can you see her (in this first image below)?
How about now (below)? This is Violet, she’s a beautiful little parrot who lives nearby. She somehow flew away from her home last night, many blocks away. And this morning when the kids went out to play, we discovered her hanging out {{ literally }} in our yard! We knew she must have belonged to somebody’s family because she didn’t seem afraid of us at all. She just looked at us looking at her! ha!
Then… all of a sudden she changed her stance, and came flying down out of the tree… right on to my 3 yr old daughter’s head! ( She must have thought that messy hair was her nest! lol!!! ) My daughter of course did not like it one bit! She shrieked, and Violet went racing to another tree nearby. It was probably just as scary for Violet as it was for my baby Sonia. Poor thing! After some hugs and kisses, all was better, and I kept on taking pictures of our new friend :)
So what do you do when you have a parrot in your tree? Give it a cracker of course!
And after the cracker, she gladly accepted a drink of water.
After a cool drink she even smiled! :)
We were so lucky to find the owners of this pretty bird before she flew away, and they came right down to rescue her. She had to be coaxed out of our tree with almonds, apparently they are her favorite (who knew!).
The kids loved all of the action this morning, they loved watching Violet, and we are all so happy that Violet got home to her family safely! They were so grateful to have found her, that they invited us to come and visit her and the other birds sometime. Sounds like fun!
