” Before I held you in my arms, I carried you close to my heart… “
When meeting new moms at their newborn baby’s photo session, I often hear… ” I wish I would have had you take my pregnancy photos too!” When you are pregnant, there is so much to think about, I know! This is the sweet, special time when your body is nurturing and growing your very own little miracle inside of you. And I know nine months sounds like a long time, but trust me, this time you share with your little one (or little ones!) is precious, and will go by quickly…
Before you know it, your new little love will be in your arms, and not in your belly anymore…
and as you look down at your sweet baby in your arms, you’ll be full of love, hardly even able to believe that this wonderful little person was once growing inside of you. Looking back at your beautiful pregnancy photos will bring back all of those feelings of love, excitement, and sweet anticipation every time you see them. I promise you, you won’t regret it.

I know what you’re thinking…
I am not really feeling like myself, I don’t know if I want to be in front of a camera right now!? What would I even wear? I hear it all the time, haha! And I want you to know that a skilled Maternity photographer specializes in minimizing those things that you don’t want to feature, focusing only on the beautiful baby bump that you DO want to feature ;)
This beautiful body shape that you have now is a gift, it is the shape of pure love, a thing of beauty, and don’t you forget it!
You are beautiful, and these memories you are creating now will be cherished always, not only by you, but also by your children! They will adore these photos when they grow up, they will love to see photos of “when they were in mommy’s tummy”. They will see and know that before they were even born, they were loved <3
I came across this funny story about a mom who hesitated and dragged her feet to her own maternity photo session on pregnancyandbaby.com. In the end, she shared how much she loves her pregnancy photos, and how she really would have regretted NOT taking them.
“All I saw in the pictures was the beauty of pregnancy that I had somehow been blind to before… Because suddenly, I wasn’t sure if I would ever have the chance to be pregnant again. And to have that moment captured forever suddenly became priceless.”

I came across another sweet story of this woman’s’ pregnancy photo session worries… She had other children, and she didn’t have maternity photos with them… “Would they be jealous?” she thought. After wrestling with her thoughts, she decided to go ahead with her photo session and she wrote:
“I know that no matter how big we look or how silly we feel, that as pregnant women, we are a part of something bigger.
And it’s beautiful.
And most definitely worthy of capturing forever through a photograph.”

Your maternity pictures can be artfully posed or more casual, and can take place indoors or outdoors, whichever you prefer. I usually recommend that pregnancy photos be taken somewhere around 32-36 weeks… you want to have a nice round baby bump, but you don’t want to wait until the very end of your pregnancy when you are feeling “so big” that moving around starts to get uncomfortable. I have maternity gowns you can wear for your photos, or I can help you choose something from your own closet for your photo session. We will work together to make sure that you look and feel your best!
